Caring for your jewellery

Silvery Plated Jewellery

A love of the Beach – A passion for Crafting Jewellery

Silver plated jewellery only has a thin layer of silver bonded to its surface, it can be scratched or tarnished easily. However, with proper care and jewellery cleaning, you could see silver plated pieces last for a long time.

Silver plated jewellery tarnishes over time even without showering with it. Exposure to air, lotions or other substances will react with the metal and scrape off the outer silver layer. Showering with silver-plated jewellery will only speed up this process.

Caring for your jewellery

When cleaning silver plated jewellery you want to be gentle, so as not to wear away

the silver coating. There are a few ways in which to clean this type of silver:

ANTI-TARNISH SILVER POLISHING CLOTHS

Things like perfume, hairspray, deodorant and moisturisers can all contribute to further tarnishing of your silver due to the chemicals reacting with the silver.

Anti-tarnish protectors have a unique anti – tarnish ingredient that bonds to the silver and forms an invisible shield on its surface, protecting it from tarnishing forming substances. This protective layer means your silver will last much longer before it tarnishes.
